The Aurora 16 and Aurora 8 AD/DA converters provide world-class analog to digital and digital to analog conversion in a compact one-rack space format. With sample rates up to 192 kHz, Aurora offers wide, open, uncompressed and unequalized audio for studios, mastering facilities, remote recording, broadcast and production. Lynxs exclusive SynchroLock word clock offers extreme jitter reduction, providing clean digital audio signals for Aurora and other digital devices in the studio.
Aurora also avoids some of the limitations that other pro level converters have. Aurora does not have a noisy fan, does not lose channel count at higher sample rates and does not require costly analog and digital modules to achieve the units full channel count.
Aurora can be used with any audio content. Equalization and limiting functions, which can color or alter the sound, have not been added. Lynxs design provides accurate conversion, clear clean audio, wide imaging ? the sound you put into Aurora is the sound that you get out of Aurora.
Several interfaces allow Aurora to be used in a number of different configurations. LT-HD allows Aurora to be recognized by and controlled from a Digidesign ProTools|HD system. FireWire access is easy using the LT-FW. 16 channels of ADAT Lightpipe I/O is made available with the LT-ADAT. The DA provides three Clock modes. The preferred modes are Crystal Mode and Narrow Lock Mode, but the unit also offers a Wide Lock Mode based on an internal Sample rate conversion for listening at non standard sampling rates.
The level of the analog outputs (balanced or unbalanced) is controlled by an up?down switch and a 2 digit display. The potentiometer free discrete analog attenuator provides up to 56dB very high precision volume control in 1 dB steps.
A state of the art discrete headphone driver is capable of accommodating at ease even the lowest impedance headphones. The unit includes a polarity switch, and a Stereo-Mono switch, a feature aimed at mastering studios.
The optical input of the DA10 can be connected directly to most current model Macintosh computers, including PowerBook laptops, and requires no addition interface. The requirement for this connection is that the computer must have a Digital Audio Output. This is in the form of a 3.5mm combo jack that outputs either a wired analog signal or an optical digital signal. The connection can be made using either a Toslink to 3.5mm mini plug interconnect or a Toslink to Toslink interconnect with a Toslink to 3.5mm adapter on the end that plugs into the computer.
