New intelligent portion cutter: Marelec Portio 3
At the latest IFFA exhibition, Belgian weighing and grading specialist Marelec NV introduced its newest development, the PORTIO 3, a portion cutting machine that combines state of the art technology and high precision, while also being an economic solution. It is suited for meat as well as fish products. Its three cameras ensure also the highest accuracy with round objects.
Following the product type, different product fixation systems are possible. Different knife types, suited to the product, can be used.
A product is fed on the infeed belt. A three dimensional laser scanner then calculates its volume. A preset weight and, or size frame is selected from the program menu.
An optional checkweigher can optimise the precision with changing product characteristics.
The machine can be completely opened for easy cleaning. The belts can be taken out for separate cleaning. Furthermore a CIP system can be integrated.
For maintenance, easy obtainable spare parts have been selected. This guarantees lowest possible maintenance costs.

Description
Extremely fast robot for deboning and/or portioning of fish. The fish fillets are fed via the conveyor system through the line. The cutting operation is done with water using a high-pressure water jet system.
The speed is typically 1 second per fillet in case it is only deboned, and 1,5 to 2 seconds if the fillet is boned and portioned.
A specially developed robot with guiding as well as transmission system developed specially for the project. The special transmission system makes it possible to place the driving motors in a stationary position and save inertia.
Three degrees of freedom: X, Y as well as tilting of water jet.
Working area: 600 mm * 1.000 mm
Maximum acceleration: 160 m/s² = 16G
Static accuracy: ±0,125 mm
Dynamic accuracy: 1,5 mm (maximum acceleration and speed)
When the robot was developed hygienic conditions and speed were emphasised.
